The Hailsham Festival Children’s Art Competition Awards has officially taken place. On Saturday 12th September, 'The World Around Us' Gallery North invited 29 talented young artists who entered this year. The festival committee, Gallery North, and sponsors Lightning Fibre, BourneFree Magazine and Knockhatch Adventure Park, had already judged the fantastic entries before selecting the age category winners.
The judges made sure every single student who entered walked away with a small prize, alongside our special larger winners. In the under-8 category, huge well done went to seven-year-old Edward from Hawkes Farm Academy, eight-year-old Reggie, and five-year-old Koa, both from Hellingly Community Primary. Over in the 9 to 13 category, the judges were impressed by nine-year-old Daniel from Oakwood Primary School, along with nine-year-old Alba and eleven-year-old Sophia from Hellingly Community Primary. Rounding off the main age groups in the 13 and over category, went to fifteen-year-old Mia from Heathfield Community College, fourteen-year-old Keerthana, and thirteen-year-old Filips, both from Hailsham Academy Senior. As well as a Knockhatch goodie bag, presented by Mark Joyes (Deputy Zoo Manager) they will also be able to visit Knockhatch with a guest.
Once the exhibition finishes, you will even be able to see printed copies of the artwork on display in Froggies Cafe right here at Knockhatch Adventure Park until summer 2027, we hope you get the chance to see the art onsite or via the Virtual Gallery.
